Dr. Li was graduated in Bath School of Physiotherapy, UK in 1977 and accordingly obtained his Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy and Membership of the Chatterer Society of Physiotherapy. He then returned to Hong Kong to work, during the time at the Polytechnic as a lecturer, he has obtained a Master of Philosophy degree with the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The area of his research was the isokinetic rehabilitation of anterior cruciate ligament injury. Later on, he advanced his research at Queensland University of Technology, Australia and obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Dr Li is specialized in the field of Sports Medicine especially in the area of Isokinetic Rehabilitation. Together with Professor K M Chan, President of FIMS, he has published a book “Principles and Practice of Isokinetic in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation”.
In 2006, he was appointed by the Chinese National Sports Bureau as one of the forty medical experts for the Chinese National Olympic Team in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He returned Hong Kong in 2009 and became the Physiotherapy Coordinator of the Hong Kong Sports Institute until 2011, during which he has been the team physiotherapist for the Hong Kong Team, including the 2009 All China Games, 2010 Asian Games and 2011 City Game, and the Paralympic Games in London 2012 etc. He is currently the Visiting Lecturer for the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the adjourned associate professor for the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In 2013, he was appointed the Deputy Director of the MSc &PgD in Sports Medicine and Health Science, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
